Zero Waste. Every Board Counts.

Our Promise

Zero-Landfill Commitment

Every year, an estimated 420 million pallets end up in American landfills. That is millions of tons of reusable lumber buried underground, releasing methane as it decomposes. At Pallet Colorado, we made a simple promise: not one pallet that enters our facility will ever reach a landfill.

Our 95% material recovery rate means nearly every ounce of material is given a second life. Intact boards become new pallets. Broken wood becomes mulch, bedding, or biomass fuel. Metal fasteners are recovered and recycled. We have maintained this zero-landfill standard since our founding, and we track every pallet to prove it.

Step by Step

Our Recycling Process

From the moment a pallet arrives at our facility, every step is designed to maximize material recovery and minimize waste.

01

Collection & Sorting

Pallets arrive at our Denver facility where they are sorted by type, size, and condition. Reusable pallets are separated from those needing repair or full disassembly.

02

Dismantling

Non-reusable pallets are carefully dismantled using automated and manual methods. Every board, stringer, and block is separated for individual assessment.

03

Lumber Sorting

Recovered boards are inspected and graded. Sound lumber is stacked and prepared for use in rebuilding new pallets. Damaged wood moves to secondary processing.

04

Rebuilding

Salvaged lumber is combined with new boards as needed to build fully functional pallets. These rebuilt pallets are inspected to the same standards as our graded inventory.

Nothing Wasted

What Happens to Unusable Wood

Wood that cannot be rebuilt into pallets still has value. Here is where it goes instead of the landfill.

Landscape Mulch

Wood that cannot be used in pallets is chipped into clean landscape mulch, sold to garden centers and landscaping companies across the Front Range.

Animal Bedding

Softwood shavings are processed into absorbent, chemical-free animal bedding used by horse stables, farms, and animal shelters throughout Colorado.

Biomass Energy

Wood material unsuitable for mulch or bedding is sent to biomass energy facilities where it generates renewable electricity instead of occupying landfill space.

Metal Recovery

Nails, staples, and metal fasteners are magnetically separated during processing and sent to metal recyclers. Even the smallest components are diverted from waste.
