PALLETCOLORADO

About · Our Process

From Collection
to Your Loading Dock

Every pallet we deliver has passed through a proven five-step process designed for quality, consistency, and zero waste. Here is exactly how it works — from the moment we pick up a used pallet to the moment it arrives at your facility.

1
Step One

Collection

Our process begins at your dock. We operate a dedicated fleet of flatbed trucks and box trucks that run scheduled pickup routes across the entire Front Range — from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, and everywhere in between. For businesses in the Denver metro area, we offer same-day and next-day pickup for loads of 50 pallets or more.

Scheduling is flexible. Many of our customers set up recurring weekly or bi-weekly pickups, while others call us as needed when pallets accumulate. Either way, our logistics team coordinates closely with your warehouse staff to ensure pickups happen smoothly and on time, without disrupting your operations.

Step Two

Inspection

When pallets arrive at our Denver facility, they do not go straight to inventory. Every single pallet passes through a dedicated inspection station where trained team members evaluate it against our quality criteria. This is the step that separates a reliable pallet supplier from a pile-and-ship operation.

Structural Integrity

We check every board, stringer, and block for cracks, splits, and breaks. Load-bearing components are tested to ensure the pallet can handle its rated weight capacity safely.

Dimensional Accuracy

Pallets are measured to confirm they meet standard size specifications. GMA 48x40 pallets, for example, must fall within tight tolerances to function properly in automated racking and conveyor systems.

Contamination Check

We inspect for chemical spills, mold, pest damage, and odors. Pallets that show signs of contamination are separated immediately and routed to our chipping line — they never enter our resale inventory.

3
Step Three

Sorting & Grading

After inspection, pallets are sorted by size, type, and condition into clearly defined grades. Our grading system follows industry standards, so whether you are ordering from us or comparing quotes, you always know exactly what level of quality you are receiving. For a full breakdown of what each grade means, visit our pallet grades guide.

Grade A — Premium

Like New

Structurally sound with minimal cosmetic wear. All boards intact, no repairs needed. Suitable for export, automated systems, and applications where appearance matters. Typically pallets that have only completed one or two shipping cycles.

Grade B — Standard

Good Condition

Fully functional with some cosmetic wear — minor staining, light scuffing, or small repairs. All load-bearing components are intact and strong. The most popular grade for general warehousing and distribution.

Grade C — Economy

Budget-Friendly

Pallets with visible wear and minor repairs, but still structurally rated for standard loads. Ideal for one-way shipments, internal warehouse use, or applications where appearance is not a concern. Maximum value at the lowest cost.

4
Step Four

Repair & Refurbishment

Pallets that have repairable damage are routed to our dedicated repair bays. Our team of skilled technicians replaces cracked or broken boards, re-secures loose fasteners, reinforces weakened stringers, and restores each pallet to full load-bearing capacity.

Whenever possible, we use reclaimed lumber harvested from pallets that are beyond full repair. This means even the wood from a pallet that cannot be saved finds new life as a replacement board in another pallet — keeping material in use and out of the waste stream.

Every repaired pallet undergoes a second inspection before it is cleared for inventory. We hold repaired pallets to the same structural and dimensional standards as our best recycled stock. If a pallet cannot be brought up to standard, it does not ship — it goes to chipping. Learn more about our recycling services.

Repair Capabilities

  • Board replacement using reclaimed lumber
  • Stringer and block reinforcement
  • Nail and fastener re-securing
  • Protruding nail removal and safety cleanup
  • Post-repair quality re-inspection
  • Custom sizing and modifications on request

Step Five

Redistribution

Once pallets are inspected, graded, and cleared for sale, they are stacked, staged in our yard, and ready for delivery. Our logistics team manages a fleet of trucks running daily routes across Colorado, and we maintain deep inventory of the most popular sizes and grades so you are never waiting on stock.

Fast Delivery

Same-day and next-day delivery is available for Denver metro orders. Most Front Range deliveries are fulfilled within one to two business days from order confirmation.

Flexible Volumes

Whether you need 50 pallets or 5,000, we scale to fit your requirements. We support one-time orders, recurring scheduled deliveries, and emergency rush orders.

Dock-Ready Stacking

Pallets arrive stacked and organized by grade, ready to unload directly at your dock. Our drivers coordinate delivery windows with your team for seamless handoff.

Zero Waste

What Happens to Pallets That Cannot Be Repaired?

Approximately 15% of the pallets we receive are too damaged for safe reuse. But “beyond repair” does not mean “beyond value.” Every pallet that cannot be fixed is processed through one of these channels.

Wood Chipping

Damaged pallets are dismantled, metal fasteners are removed, and clean wood is fed through our industrial grinder. The resulting chips are screened for quality and sized for various applications.

Landscape Mulch

A significant portion of our wood chips are sold as natural landscape mulch to garden centers, landscapers, and municipal parks departments across Colorado. The mulch helps retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and return organic matter to the earth.

Biomass Fuel

Wood chips that are not suitable for mulch are supplied to biomass energy facilities, where they are used as renewable fuel for industrial heating. This converts the wood's remaining energy value into useful heat while keeping it out of the landfill.

Safeguards

Environmental Safeguards

Operating a large-scale pallet recycling facility comes with environmental responsibilities that we take seriously. Our Denver yard is engineered to prevent contamination and minimize our operational footprint.

  • Stormwater management: Our yard features engineered drainage systems that prevent wood debris and runoff from entering local waterways.
  • Metal recovery: All nails, staples, and metal fasteners removed during repair and chipping are collected and sent to metal recyclers, not discarded.
  • Contamination screening: Pallets showing chemical spills, treated with hazardous substances, or carrying pest infestations are quarantined and processed separately under controlled conditions.
  • Dust and noise control: Our chipping and grinding operations use enclosed systems with dust collection to maintain air quality for our team and our neighbors.
Fleet & Logistics

Getting Pallets Where They Need to Be

Our fleet is the backbone of our operation. We maintain a diverse roster of vehicles sized for every type of pallet job, from small deliveries to full truckloads.

Flatbed Trucks

Our primary workhorses for both pickup and delivery. Flatbeds accommodate high-volume loads and make loading and unloading fast, even at facilities without dock infrastructure.

Box Trucks

For smaller deliveries and pickups in urban areas. Box trucks navigate tight loading areas and city streets while keeping pallets protected during transport.

Route Optimization

We plan daily routes to minimize empty miles and fuel consumption. Pickups and deliveries are combined on the same routes whenever possible, reducing both cost and carbon emissions from our fleet.
