Shared With a Supplier
Your request is shared with a partner supplier in our network through the 1DB lead platform. Availability depends on which suppliers cover your area.
The Supplier Follows Up
A partner supplier follows up with a quote. Prices, terms, pickup and delivery are set by the supplier, not by Pallet Colorado.
What Partner Suppliers Typically Do
The steps below describe how pallet suppliers generally work. Exact services, standards and coverage vary by supplier; confirm the details in your quote.
Collection
Used pallets usually start at a business dock: warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturers and retailers that receive goods on pallets. Partner suppliers that offer pickup collect them, often with flatbeds or box trucks, depending on the load and the site.
Some businesses arrange recurring pickups, while others request one when pallets pile up. Whether pickup is offered, and on what terms, is up to the supplier.

Inspection
Suppliers generally look over incoming pallets before deciding what happens to each one. These are the things they commonly check.
Structural Condition
Boards, stringers and blocks are checked for cracks, splits and breaks that would make a pallet unsafe to load.
Size
Pallets are grouped by size. The 48x40 GMA-style pallet is the most common, and pallets used in racking or conveyors need to be close to their nominal size.
Contamination
Pallets with spills, mold, pest damage or strong odors are usually kept out of resale stock and handled separately.
Sorting & Grading
Usable pallets are sorted by size, type and condition into grades. Grade names are common across the industry, but each supplier applies them a little differently, so ask what a grade means when you compare quotes. For more detail, see the pallet grades guide.
Grade A — #1
Best Condition
Structurally sound with little visible wear and few or no repairs. Often chosen for automated systems or where appearance matters.
Grade B — #2
Good Condition
Fully functional with cosmetic wear such as staining or repaired boards. A common choice for general warehousing and distribution.
Economy / Utility
Visible Wear
Heavier wear or mixed repairs. Some suppliers offer these for one-way shipments or internal use where appearance isn't a concern.
Repair & Refurbishment
Pallets with repairable damage are typically fixed by replacing cracked or broken boards, re-securing loose fasteners and reinforcing weak stringers or blocks.
Many suppliers reuse boards salvaged from pallets that can't be saved, so wood from one pallet can end up as a replacement board in another.
Pallets that can't be brought back to a usable condition are usually taken apart for parts or sent for grinding. Repair and recycling are available through partner suppliers; see recycling services.

Resale
Graded and repaired pallets go back into use, sold to businesses that need them. If you're buying, a quote request lets a partner supplier tell you what sizes and grades they can offer in your part of Colorado.
Delivery
Delivery is available through partner suppliers in many areas. Timing and any charges are set by the supplier and shown in your quote.
Quantities
Tell us the quantity you need, whether a one-time order or recurring. The supplier will confirm what they can supply.
Pickup Option
Some buyers prefer to collect pallets themselves. Ask the supplier whether customer pickup is possible.
What Happens to Pallets That Cannot Be Repaired?
Some pallets are too damaged for safe reuse. Wood that can't be reused can often be ground into mulch or fuel. These are the usual routes.
Wood Grinding
Damaged pallets are taken apart, metal fasteners are pulled, and the wood is ground into chips that can be sized for different uses.
Landscape Mulch
Clean, untreated wood chips are often used as landscape mulch, which helps retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.
Biomass Fuel
Chips that aren't suited to mulch can be used as biomass fuel, putting the wood's remaining energy to use instead of sending it to a landfill.
