From Concept to Delivery
Here is how a custom pallet request typically moves from your first message to delivery by a partner supplier. Timing depends on the supplier, materials, and quantity, and is confirmed with your quote.
Consultation & Requirements
You tell us about your application through the quote form. What products will the pallet carry? How much do they weigh? What is the shipping environment? Will the pallet be racked, stacked, or placed on the floor? Do you need export compliance? The more detail you include, the better partner suppliers can quote.
Design & Engineering
We pass your request to partner suppliers who build custom pallets. A supplier in our network works out the wood species, board thickness, fastener type, and construction method needed for your load, and can discuss prototypes for more complex applications.
Material Sourcing
Depending on your requirements and budget, partner suppliers may use reclaimed pallet lumber, new lumber, or a combination. Reusing lumber avoids cutting new boards for the same job, so ask about reclaimed options if that matters to you.
Manufacturing & Treatment
The partner supplier builds your custom pallets. If ISPM 15 heat treatment is required for export, it can be arranged through partner suppliers, and treated pallets carry the official IPPC mark applied by the treatment provider.
Delivery & Ongoing Supply
Partner suppliers deliver to locations across the Colorado Front Range, subject to availability. If you expect to reorder the same design, mention your expected volume so the supplier can quote with that in mind.
Choose Your Materials
Partner suppliers work with a range of materials to match your performance requirements, budget, and sustainability goals. Note your preference in your request, or ask the supplier for a recommendation.
Recycled Softwood
Reclaimed pine, spruce, or fir lumber from used pallets. Often the most affordable option for standard-duty custom pallets, and it puts existing wood back to work.
New Softwood
Fresh-cut pine or spruce. A good fit when you want consistent, unused lumber or your customer requires new material.
Hardwood (Oak, Maple)
Greater strength and wear resistance for heavy-duty industrial pallets. Worth considering for heavy loads or pallets subject to rough handling.
Recycled Composite Lumber
Engineered boards made from recycled wood fibers and binding agents. Consistent dimensions and better moisture resistance than many solid-wood boards.
Plywood Deck
Plywood top decks provide a smooth, continuous surface with no gaps. Ideal for small items, bags, and products that could fall through standard deck board spacing.
Combination / Hybrid
Mix materials for cost and performance. For example, hardwood stringers with softwood deck boards, or a plywood top deck on a reclaimed lumber base.
Heat Treatment & ISPM 15 Compliance
If your pallets will cross international borders, they must comply with ISPM-15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15). This standard requires regulated wood packaging used in international trade to be treated, most commonly by heat, to eliminate pests that could harm foreign ecosystems.
Heat-treated pallets can be requested through partner suppliers. Standard heat treatment brings the core wood temperature to at least 56 degrees Celsius (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for at least 30 minutes. After treatment, each pallet carries the internationally recognized IPPC mark, which includes the treatment provider's ID and the treatment code (HT).
Without this mark, wood pallets can be refused at the destination border, which can delay your shipment. Mention your destination country when you request a quote, and check current regulations for that country before you ship.
ISPM-15 Requirements
- Core temperature of 56°C (133°F) for 30 minutes
- Official IPPC compliance stamp on every pallet
- Treatment documented and traceable
- Applies to regulated wood packaging in international trade
- Non-compliance can result in shipment delays or rejection
Countries Requiring ISPM-15
Many countries require ISPM 15 compliance for wood packaging materials, including European Union member states, Mexico, China, Australia, and Japan. Rules and exemptions differ by country and change over time, so check current regulations for your destination before shipping on wood pallets.
Custom Sizing & Load Engineering
Partner suppliers build custom pallets to the dimensions you specify. For each custom size, the supplier works out the board layout, stringer or block configuration, and fastener pattern needed for your target load without using more material than necessary.
This engineering approach means you get a pallet that is strong enough for your load without overspending on unnecessary thickness or extra boards. Include your racking system dimensions, forklift details, and trailer measurements in your request so the supplier can check the fit throughout your supply chain.

Branding & Identification Options
Custom pallets can be branded with your company logo, part numbers, or handling instructions. Branding improves asset tracking, deters theft, and reinforces your brand throughout the supply chain. Options partner suppliers may offer include:
Heat Branding (Burned-In Logo)
Permanent logo or text burned into the wood surface. Durable and hard to remove, which makes it useful for tracking pallets you reuse.
Stencil Painting
Company name, logo, or color-coded markings spray-painted through precision stencils. High visibility for warehouse identification and sorting.
Color-Coded Pallets
Paint the entire pallet or specific boards in your brand colors. Useful for distinguishing pallet types, departments, or product lines in mixed-use warehouses.
RFID & Barcode Tags
Embedded RFID chips or durable barcode labels for digital tracking. Ask the supplier about compatibility with your warehouse management system (WMS).

Tell us how many pallets you need. Whether a partner supplier can take on a given quantity depends on the design and the supplier, and they will tell you when they follow up.
Lead Time
Build and delivery timing depends on the design, materials, quantity, and the supplier's schedule. If you have a deadline, include it in your request and the partner supplier will confirm what is realistic.
Pricing
Custom pallet pricing comes by quote from partner suppliers and depends on size, materials, treatment, and quantity. Ask the supplier how volume affects the price.
Repeat Orders
If you expect to need the same custom pallet again, say so in your request and include your expected weekly or monthly volume. That helps partner suppliers quote realistically and plan materials for your design.
